Weave & Stitch Along – Weaving Buttonholes for Week 5

Howdy! Week 5 of our WSAL will include the Buttonhole stitch, so how about we get some buttonholes ready!

Download the instructions to weave a square or a hexagon that has the right size buttonhole in the right location for our Week 5 embroidery.

Weaving a buttonhole is easy, but if you don’t want to deal with it or you don’t have time, no problem. You will be able to do Week 5 either way.

I highly recommend that you take a look on Pinterest at the Week 4 squares and hexagons that are in so far, as well as the first entries for our “Midterm Challenge” .

BTW, it is not too late to participate in the “Midterm Challenge”. If you need more information, check out the Week 4 blog post and Week 4 worksheet.

Happy crafting!

  1. Is it possible to do this, weave and stitch along, on the 2″ hexagon or weave it?

  2. The designs will work for any 4″ square loom with 31×31 threads and for the original 4″ TURTLE Hexagon Loom.

While most of the designs won’t fit on a 2″ loom, you can certainly try all the stitches on a smaller loom. For example, in Week 1, for the Running stitch, you would use fewer colors and make shorter rows. In Week 3, when we practice the Lazy Daisy stitch, you could just make one flower in the middle of your 2″ loom. So there’s still a lot to learn and try out!
