Follow this easy recipe to success:
You will need the TURTLE Loom™ “fine sett” and
1 skein of fingering yarn (typically 100g, but you won’t need all of it, see below).
How-To:
- Weave 24 hexagons.
- Sew 3 rows, made of 8 hexagons each row.
- Sew the rows together.
- Sew the short sides together to form the cowl (final size about 13.5″ per side, 8″ tall).
- Weave in any ends.
- Block as desired.
About the yarn: We met “Crafting my Chaos“ at our first Yarnivore trunk show. The yarns convince with their softness (you want to wear it next to skin), the drape and pretty shine, and the great variety of color runs.
We chose “Trick or Treat Party” as the color run for this cowl, a micro-stripe dye which clearly is not just for Halloween. Other options (and the decision was hard) included some of the self-striping yarns, for example “Fall Foliage” which weaves up in beautiful autumn colors, automatically generating a patchwork effect. And “Bourbon Street”, a bold, convincing choice that adds a stylish geometry element to the weaving results.
Whether you will dive into your sock yarn stash or go shopping (the Best Little Yarn Crawl in Texas is still going on), we hope you will give the super-easy cowl a try. We think that you will not be disappointed.
Happy weaving!
