Paint Drop Toss Game

Spring time is a good time to fix things, maybe paint the house or a garden fence. Here is a game to get painters of all ages into gear: Practice tossing some paint drops! The “tools” are good to use outdoors, but also indoors, in case you’re still waiting for the snow to melt.

Instructions are for 3 “drops” per person and 4 players. Adjust as you wish!

We’re using Scheepjes Catona, a 100% cotton yarn that is available in 109 colors, so there are plenty of shades to choose from to “match your style”.

A simple paint bucket serves as target and as storage container, but you could also go for any type of “pretty” container.

You will need:

Weave 6 hexagons per color to make 4 sets of  3 “drops”.

Assembly:

No need to turn the “drops” inside out, the seams come out nicely with just whip stitch.

Were you into marbles as a child? I loved playing … and collecting! You could weave collector tosses from special yarns, maybe even decorated or personalized with embroidery, and share them with family members or friends.

The “drops” make great microwavable hand warmer for heat therapy. Heat 10-30 seconds in the microwave and put a drop in a coat pocket to keep your hands warm … just in case it is not really spring yet where you live. Caution: Depending on the microwave and the material you are using (not all yarns are suitable), results may vary. Try it out carefully.

Welcome spring!
