The Fiona hap-inspired shawl/throw has been on my mind for a long time, and I’m thrilled that it is now available and waiting to get onto your looms.

Inspired by traditional knitted haps, pin-loom woven Fiona playfully blends fabric textures and colors – authentically worked in Shetland wool – into a lightweight warming accessory that can be used as a wrap, shawl, or cozy throw.

Fiona is a contemporary take on the rich history of Scottish haps: Instead of knitting, this pattern uses pin-loom woven hexagons to create a center square, surrounded by colored borders. Lace effects are distrbuted throughout the piece by weaving the yarn on different-sett pin looms. The hexagon shapes naturally add the peaked edging.
Using authentic wool elevates the weaving experience and perfects the wearability of this hap. The finished Fiona measures about 60″ x 64″ and weighs only about 500g (less than 18oz).
To make Fiona you will need the Original TURTLE Loom™, R- regular sett for worsted weight yarns and the Original TURTLE Loom™, F-fine sett for sock/fingering weight yarns.
The design is woven in Spindrift by Jamieson’s of Shetland. The pattern listing provides the necessary details.
