When I made the Santa Gnome last December I knew that this would just be the beginning. The idea was borne to make a “Gnome of the Month” for 2018.
Here in the United States, there are so many traditions to celebrate that it is easy to pick a theme for almost any month of the year … but what about January? What do people care about in January? Well, the answer is “Getting ready for Superbowl!” Here are two Superbowl gnomes, ready for the big game.
The construction is the same as for Santa Gnome: Body and hat are woven on the TexaTURTLE™ hexagon pin loom, the head is made of a hexagon on the original TURTLE Loom™, and the feet, the nose, and the beard are very quickly woven on the TinyTURTLE™ loom. And of course, the gnomes need a football, made of two hexagons on the TinyTURTLE™. Lastly, I embellished the gnomes with their respective team logos.
You can find free instructions for the Superbowl gnomes on Ravelry in the “Superbowl Gnome” project.
Bonus: It only takes two hexagons on the TexaTURTLE™ and some stuffing to make this cute football toy that will delight (not just) the little ones. I suggest you make (at least) one before you go to the party … you can find the instructions here.
Tip: If you don’t have all the hexagon pin looms to make the gnomes yet, check out if any of these loom combos might help.
- The Loom Combo I includes the TinyTURTLE™ and the TexaTURTLE™ looms.
- The Loom Combo II is a complete set of all three looms at a nice discount.
That leaves us with only one question: What’s your team?
