In Week 5, we started a special project , making little purses for a charity group “Stitches of Love” who provides handmade back-to-school items to needy children in Arizona. A few questions have been asked that may be of general interest, so here’s a special blog for this special project!
Thank you for any and all donations … you’re putting a smile on someone’s face!
Please contact me at gabi@texasgabi.com if you have a question that is not answered here.
Q: Is there a deadline for the Charity Project?
A: Nope! You can send your donation any time. If it is too late for this year’s distribution, … there will be another one next year!
Q: Where do I send my donation?
A: The address is
Stitches of Love
360 E. Coronado Rd, #200,
Phoenix, Arizona 85004
Q: Can I send more than one purse?
A: Absolutely!
Q: I have about 10 bookmarks … can I send those, too?
A: Yes, you can, as long as the colors and designs are appealing to children.
Q: Can I give my purse to a local charity / my granddaughter instead?
A: Absolutely! The most important idea behind this project is to put a smile on someone’s face with an item that was made with love, no matter who or where that someone is.
Q: Can I make a purse without the buttonhole and a button?
A: Absolutely! You can make any purse that will be attractive to a little girl. Check out our purse ideas on Ravelry (just skip the buttonholes and buttons) or get inspired by some of the patterns on the “Stitches of Love” blog.
Q: Can I make and send other items to “Stitches of Love”?
A: Absolutely! Take a look at other items that “Stitches of Love” accepts under “Accessories” on their inventory chart. Get inspired by the patterns on the “Stitches of Love” blog.
Q: Where do you talk about this Charity Project?
A: You can find more information about this project in Weave & Stitch Along Week 5.
Q: Do you have patterns for the purses?
A: Yes, you can find free instructions on how to make these purses on Ravelry.
