Mother Gnome

Happy Mother’s Day! is coming up quickly …

Here’s the Gnome of the Month for May … Mother Gnome … all dressed up in her Sunday’s best in giddy pinks, featuring a straw hat with a pretty flower and a bag large enough to hold a treasured gift card … or a knitting project.

While the gnome itself follows the basic gnome pattern, we “borrowed” the little purse from last year’s Advent Calendar to serve as a gnome bag large enough to hold a gift card, or a favorite gnome knitting project.

New for this gnome is the pretty little flower on the straw hat, made of two hexagons that are woven on the BabyTURTLE™ loom.  You don’t have to stop at one flower, and it doesn’t have to be on a gnome hat. Those lovely flowers make beautiful embellishments on other things, too, like on a t-shirt or along the lapel of a cardigan, on a head band, a greeting card … any place where you’d use little flower decorations. And with a yardage requirement of just 27″ this is a great way to make good use of precious ends of hand spun yarn. Or you can follow the “leave no yarn behind” principle of not wasting anything and make a little flower bouquet of yarn ends from another crafting project.

You can find the instructions for Mother Gnome on Ravelry.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers … in appreciation of the 365/24/7 they are “on duty” to take care of their loved ones.
