Come and See – (1) Little Basket

Our first trunk show is coming up at the Yarnivore in San Antonio, TX, on Saturday, August 25th, 2018!

Of course we are excited, and we are looking forward to bringing all our hexagon pin looms for you to try, plus we will have plenty of projects to showcase.

But we want to make it even more special: We will have some project samples that are made with yarns from the Yarnivore. Here is a sneak-peak for the first project: Yarnivore’s Dawn inspired us to do a basket similar to the Lace Basket, woven on the TexaTURTLE™ loom. But this time we let the yarn do all the work to give the basket a rugged burlap or glazed pottery character.

20180815_154934_resizedThe Old Dominion Collection of Cestari delights with 100% Virginia grown cotton. The “Peanut Brown” is a perfect color to pretend an earthy, natural, rustic effect.

20180815_154804_resizedWe paired that with Theodora’s Pearls by DizzyLettuce in “Cotton Candy”, which weaves up lacy, playful, and with a little sheen, reminding of a copper-iron green pottery glaze.
The combination of the two results in a basket that almost looks like a rugged little burlap basket, or … a partially glazed pottery bowl.

And unlike a pottery bowl … the woven basket is reversible!

Come and see! Hope to visit with you at the Yarnivore …

  1. I love this basket you made and it would be perfect for my basket weaving friends as Christmas gifts. I just ordered your loom. I was wondering if you sell the yarn you used? If not could you tell me where I could purchase it.
    Thank you

    1. Hi Sandy,

Oh, yes, those baskets will be perfect as holiday presents. Let me find out if you can order the yarn online and I’ll let you know!

      Kindly,
      Gabi
